Resuming In-Person Worship
Session and I met this week to discuss our plan for resuming in-person worship. In this month’s pastoral letter, I would like to share those plans with you.
Our plan is to resume in-person worship at 9:00am on Sunday, June 7, 2020.
In order to satisfy our insurance company, we need to follow CDC and local guidelines for small group gatherings when we resume in person worship. To satisfy these guidelines, we are asking everyone who is feeling sick to stay home and continue to worship online. We are asking everyone who comes to worship to please wear a mask when you're in the church building. If you do not have a mask, we will have a few masks at the church for you to use. We ask that you arrive for worship no earlier than 8:45am. We are asking that everyone not living in the same household maintain a social distance of six feet in the sanctuary at all times. To encourage this, we will be marking off every other pew in our sanctuary. If your usual pew is marked off, please sit in an unmarked pew. We will provide hand sanitizer, and soap to wash your hands.
Session has decided to cancel our June celebration of communion until we can do more research on how best to safely administer communion. Session will set up an offering plate in the back of the sanctuary where you can drop your offering before or after the service. For the month of June, we will not be printing paper bulletins, but will follow the service on the PowerPoint. Please continue to check the Newsletter for announcements and updates usually found in the bulletins.
Session and I realize that not everyone will feel comfortable resuming in-person worship on June 7th. I will continue to provide a pre-recording on the week’s worship service on YouTube. The office will continue to mail out liturgies and sermon manuscripts for those who do not have e-mail access. I will continue to e-mail out prayer requests that people would like shared with the congregation.
If you have any questions about resuming in-person worship, please reach out to me via phone (724) 318-2759, or e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Rev. Rebecca DePoe
