Call to Worship
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem
Lo, your king comes to you;
Triumphant and victorious is he,
Humble and riding on a donkey,
On a colt, the foal of a donkey.
“Hosanna, Loud Hosanna!”
Hosanna, loud hosanna, the little children sang; through pillared court and temple the joyful anthem rang. To Jesus, who has blessed them, close folded to his breast, the children sang their praises, the simplest and the best.
From Olivet they followed ‘mid an exultant crowd, the victor palm branch waving, the chanting clear and loud; the Lord of earth and heaven rode on in lowly state, nor scorned that little children should on his bidding wait.
Hosanna in the highest! That ancient song we sing, for Christ is our Redeemer; the Lord of heaven, our King. O may we ever praise him with heart and life and voice, and in his blissful presence eternally rejoice.
Prayer of Confession
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God.
Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart and mind and strength. We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we many delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.
Words of Assurance
I declare to you in the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven. Amen.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning. Is now and ever shall be. Word without end. Amen. Amen.
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the
